Northwest Arkansas Emerging Leaders exists to retain emerging leaders and build a lasting legacy in Northwest Arkansas by providing the resources to infuse new talent with existing leadership. One of the ways they achieve this goal is through their bi-annual Board Service Certification Seminar.  The Board Service Certification Seminar was developed by NWAEL to assist emerging leaders in pursuing leadership and service positions and to create a reputable source for organizations to recruit emerging talent to serve in leadership capacities.

The first session for 2014 will be held Thursday, May 29 at the University of Arkansas Global Campus at the Arkansas World Trade Center in Rogers from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.   Cost for registration is $50/person.  The program will focus on four key areas of board service: commitments and expectations, legal and ethical considerations, finance and fundraising. The day is organized as a set of discussion panels and practical exercises giving participants the tools necessary to serve on a board.  The Board Service Certification seminar recently partnered with the Arkansas Nonprofit Alliance to provide a more robust, interactive curriculum.  At the conclusion of the day a meet and greet reception is held to introduce participants to local non-profit agencies.

NWAEL started the Board Service Certification two years ago and have had 175 participants complete the program.
